History

In 1972 when the Village Trust was formed, the windmill had been struck by lightning, the railway station was unmanned; the once busy goods yard silent and the whole area was under threat of demolition.

Then in 1975 the station buildings were saved from demolition by the Village Trust. Then in 1986 the windmill was restored to working order and by 1989, the restoration of the station had begun. This was when the railway museum was formed. Over the years this has grown and developed and in the year 2006 was made part of the Mill and Station tourist complex.
